Overview
The WRCTE South Automotive Program housed at Parke Heritage High School is designed to prepare our graduates for college, the workforce, or military careers by giving them a broad overview of all things automotive during their high school years, and teaching them technical skills.
The 1st year students cover anything from basic oil changes and tire rotations, all the way up to major brake system or suspension repairs- and even some welding too! They also learn about different aspects of the industry often overlooked, such as interviewing skills and scholarship writing, legal concerns, and safety rules around shop equipment.
The 2nd year students are focused on precision work and more in-depth processes, and are trained in areas such as quality inspection, engine performance theory, and complete engine overhaul. The 2nd year students also perform "live work" on vehicles owned by members of the community who seek affordable vehicle maintenance.
